 a circular hole is cut in a rectangular metal plate and the plate is heated. wil the radius of hole increase or decrease ?????

Just imagine the plate to be complete even for calculations...

and the space occupied by the imaginary part will be the space covered by the hole as well..

because the expansion of neighbouring atoms is independent of each other so even when there is a hole their expansion will be same!!

and thrfr the area of hole increases..!!!

when you heat an isotropic substance it will expand in all directions so the radius of the hole increases

AS THE PLAT IS HEATED THE MOLECULE OF PLATE WILL ATTAIN THEIR EXCIETED STATE AND TEND TO LOSS THE OTHER MOLECULE , HENCE THE RADIUS IS INCREASE
